Multiple Genome Alignment Software
What is it? Aligning whole genomes cannot be approached using strategies designed for building short, local alignments. Mauve (Darling, et al. 2004) is a program for rapid alignment of multiple whole genomes, allowing for large-scale evolutionary differences such as rearrangement, inversion, and horizontal transfer. This provides a basis for studying comparative genomics and evolutionary dynamics on a genome-wide scale.
For more information on how to use Mauve, please see the instructions by clicking the "i" in the title bar.
